Alex
Barron is the founder, CEO and President of
abcISP, Inc., which provides IT services to the government and commercial Life
Sciences community, including the DOD’s Military Health System (MHS) market and
emerging biotech / pharmaceutical organizations. Mr. Barron’s founding and management of abcISP represents the
culmination of a long and distinguished career that includes military, public,
and private sector experience.
Prior
to founding abcISP in 2001, Mr. Barron entered the venture capital funded
emerging business market as the Director of Technical Operations for a
technology startup based in Del Mar, CA where he designed, built and operated a
web portal for physicians. This company was successfully merged with an East
Coast based medical education company in 2002.
Mr.
Barron was a Senior Engineer with Raytheon Naval and Maritime Systems of San
Diego, where he led a team effort to bring the development environment for the
Navy’s carrier defense system program into Y2K compliance. As a Senior Engineer
with Raytheon, he also provided substantial input into the network design for
the Navy’s next generation ship defense system program. This system has seen
action in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the aircraft carrier USS RONALD REAGAN
(CVN 76).
Mr.
Barron also led, as a senior federal servant, the IT department for Commander
Helicopter Tactical Wing in Coronado, California where he participated in the
then largest IT rollout for Naval Aviation in the Pacific. Before moving to Coronado,
Alex attended the University of Maryland, University College Asian Division in
Tokyo, Japan under the G.I. Bill. He graduated with a B.S. in Information
Systems Management in 1998.
Mr. Barron’s active duty service was with the Commander of all P3 and
EP-3 surveillance squadrons based at the historic intelligence base Kami Seya,
Japan. Mr. Barron’s Navy experience
further defined the core beliefs that would serve him well for the rest of his
life including: pride in his country, a respect for tradition, honor and
service, and the joy of a job well done. During his Navy career, he found the
mentorship that made the difference in his life, and led to his life long
involvement in education, and quality of life causes. Mr. Barron left the
uniformed services after the Gulf War in 1992.
